ARTISANAL SPECIALTY COFFEE
The art of coffee, perfected in Florence since 1950.
Mokaflor dates back to Florence in the 1930s, but they have been under the guidance of the Bernini family since the 1950s, when Vasco Bernini introduced a then-uncommon approach to coffee roasting. He treated each coffee variety according to its own character, rather than just applying a single roasting profile to all.
Today, the company remains family-led; the subsequent generations continue that tradition of artisanal roasting with a deep respect for quality and the individual character of bean. Mokaflor has brought its special approach to coffee to more than 40 countries, sharing their knowledge and expertise through their Espresso Academy, all while remaining true to the values that shaped them from the beginning.
Mokaflor believes that, in the roasting process, every coffee bean deserves to be treated according to its singularity. Coffees from different origins are roasted separately, which allows each variety to develop to the fullest expression before being blended. The resulting collection of coffees deliver distinct experiences, precisely due to these individualistic origins.
For MONO, we selected three expressions of this philosophy:
Special 70, created to celebrate Mokaflor’s 70th anniversary;
Oro, a classic blend of Italian coffee; and
Decaffeinato, which still preserves the integrity of the bean without caffeine.
Together, they offer an introduction to the craftsmanship that Mokaflor has honed for generations.
Mokaflor’s commitment to quality extends beyond roasting. In 2009, the Bernini family established Espresso Academy, a center dedicated to advancing coffee education and promoting a deeper understanding of specialty coffee among professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Today, Mokaflor coffees are served and enjoyed in more than 40 countries, reflecting a reputation built not on scale, but on decades of consistency, craftsmanship, and respect for the bean.
