THE MAKER
Captain Santors is the creation of Gianluigi Santoro, known affectionately as Il Capitano. Though he may be a lawyer by profession, sailing is his passion. Such a love of the sea and nautical motifs color his heritage menswear brand, building him an international reputation for well-crafted garments and enduring style.
Capitano is a regular exhibitor at Pitti Uomo and has been featured on the cover of The Heritage Post. His work can be found in select retailers across Europe, North America, and Asia.
As an extension of the principles that guide his craft of garment construction, Capitano ventured into the realm of liquor. He harvests home-grown botanicals and distills it into a fresh and coastal gin.
Be it through clothing or through spirits, Capitano’s creations are always deeply personal. They are shaped by the places that he has known, the traditions that he values, and the never-ending experiences that continue to inspire him.
THE CRAFT
Captain Santors Southern Sea Gin is perhaps the most intimate expression of Gianluigi Santoro’s central values. Crafted in Calabria, it draws directly from the landscapes and personal memories that have shaped his life.
Among its defining botanicals is Piretto, an ancient Calabrian citrus grown on Santoro’s own land. This is joined by the spicy yet rosy pink peppercorn, harvested from a tree planted by his grandmother. Together with wild fennel and Tuscan juniper too, these botanicals create a gin colored by the uniqueness of Southern Italy.
Produced in small batches at Calabria’s first micro-distillery, Captain Santors Southern Sea Gin reflects the same acclaim for provenance that defines Capitano’s work. Every ingredient is chosen in appreciation of and connection to the people, places and stories behind it.
