For more than seven centuries, the Frescobaldi family has cultivated the land of Tuscany by building a legacy rooted in agriculture and the stewardship of their estates. In the late 1980s, they brought the same philosophy and discipline that had guided their winemaking to the production of olive oil, helping pioneer a new way of thinking about extra virgin olive oil.
The creation of Laudemio was a turning point in the world of extra virgin olive oil. It was among the first oils produced and bottled by agricultural estates that cultivated their own olives, establishing a direct connection between the land, the harvest, and the final product.
At the heart of Laudemio is a singular philosophy: to create one oil that is the best expression of the land. Across 300 hectares of olive groves, the harvest occurs in phases when different parcels reach their ideal stages of ripeness at different moments in the season. This allows Frescobaldi to harvest every olive at their right time, instead of rushing to gather fruit that ripens all at once. It is a painstaking process, but it is one that preserves the freshness and character that have come to define Laudemio.
Laudemio is guided by the same principles that have shaped every Frescobaldi endeavor: a devotion to the land and an unwavering commitment to doing one thing exceptionally well. As Matteo Frescobaldi explains, “Our philosophy is to find one product that we can do well and do the best we can.”
